Sage Bierster, LCSW
DBT Primary Therapist
Originally from Alabama, Sage Bierster graduated summa cum laude from Tulane University with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. With a career spanning diverse treatment settings—community mental health, school counseling, inpatient and residential care, outpatient services, and private practice—Sage brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her work. She has pursued advanced training in trauma treatment, human sexuality, and adolescent mental health and has worked extensively with unique populations, including individuals in the criminal justice system, those with substance use disorders, military families, and LGBTQIA+ communities. Currently, she is working toward becoming an AASECT-certified sex educator and therapist, further expanding her expertise and commitment to inclusive care.
Sage has an adventurous spirit and a love for learning and travel. She has lived in five U.S. states and two countries outside the U.S., visited 26 states, 16 countries, and four continents, and speaks Portuguese fluently and Spanish proficiently. A night owl in a morning lark’s world, Sage enjoys knitting, cross-stitch, yoga, baking, and gardening. Her rescue dog, who struggles with separation anxiety, is a constant companion. In college, she even spent time as a radio DJ! Recently, she took on the challenge of renovating a fixer-upper—a project that has taught her that interior design may be her greatest stressor yet.
